Percentage of Income Payment Program PLUS (PIPP)

  What is PIPP PLUS?

The Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus (PIPP) is an extended payment plant that requires gas and electric utility companies to accept a percentage of your income as payment.  For example, your primary source of heat is gas, then you pay 6% of your monthly household income to your gas company and 6% to your electric company. If your primary source of heat is electricity, you pay 10% of your monthly household income to your electric company.

The Community Action Agency or utility company will calculate your PIPP Plus payment amount. Once you are enrolled in the program, you must pay your installment every month in full and on time.

To Be Eligible You:

·      Must receive your primary or secondary heat source from a company regulated by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO),

·      Must have a total household income which is at or below 150% of the federal poverty level,

·      and you must apply for all energy assistance programs for which you are eligible.
