OPN

Ohio Preservation Network brings advocates, housing providers and state officials together quarterly to discuss ways to preserve affordable housing. COHHIO's Bill Faith says:  "I really like those meetings - there are not many rooms where such a diverse range of folks can meet and have open exchanges about these issues."

Ohio Preservation Network (OPN) is a project of the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO).  OPN first met in 1991 as fears of the loss of HUDs affordable housing stock were beginning to become a public issue.  The housing boom of the 1990s and the expiration of HUD subsidy contracts prompted concerns about maintaining safe decent and affordable housing.

Over the years the threats to affordable housing have evolved to include expiration of HUD mortgages (and affordability protections), expiration of USDA mortages and shortfalls in funding for Rental Assistance and deterioration of HUD properties.

OPN reaches out to a wide range of housing advocates, affordable housing providers and public officials.  OPN currently meets at the Ohio Housing Finance Agency.  Meetings in 2014 are scheduled for
April 24, 2014
July 17, 2014 (subject to approval by membership)

Spencer Wells, RHINO community manager, is coordinating meetings for COHHIO in 2014.
